We are all set and ready to go!
Two years after the adoption of the Act creating Belgium’s first National Human Rights Institution, the Institute is now ready and set to go. The first meeting of the Board took place on September 2, 2020, and the secretariat started its work on February 1, 2021. By July 2021, we expect to be fully operational. All set and ready to go

It is with deep sadness that the Federal Institute for Human Rights has learned of the passing of one of its first board members, former judge Alain Bloch.
After an impressive career at, among others, the Ghent Court of First Instance, the Court of Cassation and the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, he was one of the members of the first board of directors of our institute, in which his commitment now lives on.
Law, justice and the defence of human rights were fundamental to him. We hope to honour his memory by continuing the work he started.
